Big Bag

A line-drawn world traveller prepares to depart. It is a simple piece, but as efficient as a back-packer's hostel. It is stripped to the essentials, a single static animated frame with a running joke - the books on the shelves carry a variety of destinations on their spines, but it is one back that will bear the eponymous pack.
Daniel Greaves lifts that load. In the space of two minutes I laughed at least once for each continent, a hearty hoot for each hemisphere. That kind of return on investment is why short animation is such a treat, Greave's traveller may well be sofa-surfing but does not outstay the audience's welcome.
This is a film that is economically hilarious in the precision of its lines and humour, a wordless comic gem. That lack of language will hopefully help this film travel more swiftly and surely than its protagonist. Packing more laughs into its run-time than some features manage, Big Bag is a treat, light-hearted but an indicator of heavyweight talent.
